composition and colour are both important elements of my work. using the technique of figuring while weaving enables me to achieve random shapes and patterns, as all the figured yarns are woven in by hand. these random shapes or symbols tell a story and the viewer is able to perceive them however they wish. I have been by many different people what my work reminds them of - from American folk art to road traffic signs! this is something I find really interesting and inspiring, how the same image has the ability to conjure up so many different feelings and attributes to different people, I'm just glad that people find it engaging.
